THE RESET E2: HALL OF MIRRORS
The powers that be intend to destroy the old order of the West in order to replace it with a new order, but to do so, they need to ensure that their plans are not disrupted by an awake and aware population that knows what is happening and why. In THE RESET VOL. 2: HALL OF MIRRORS, MemoryHold explores how our leaders control our minds in order to keep us docile, distracted, and apathetic in order to guarantee nonresistance in their conquest of society.

“One of the most striking proofs of the personal existence of Satan, which our times afford us, is found in the fact, that he has so influenced the minds of multitudes in reference to his existence and doings, as to make them believe that he does not exist…”
- “Spiritualism, a Satanic Delusion, and a Sign of the Times”, 1856, by Pastor William Ramsey
Reality, as we perceive it, is an illusion; it’s a “hall of mirrors” composed of warped information who’s true nature and meaning are distorted, changed, and manipulated as it passes through a series of “filters’ ‘ before it reaches the wider public. It is similar to the phenomenon of Gravitational Lensing, a theory initially put forth by Einstein in the Theory of General Relativity. The idea is that light, as it travels through space and passes by celestial bodies with tons of mass like black holes, ends up becoming warped and bent before it ever reaches an Astronomer’s telescope. Because of this, the Astronomer is given an inaccurate perception of what a particular celestial body actually looks like.
Much of our lives are composed of data we absorb from the different “filters” available to us. These “filters” are information channels such as mainstream media, twitter, Instagram, the news sources we use, the blogs we read, and the forums we frequent. Regardless of what your favored outlet is for obtaining news, all of the information we obtain from them is inherently manipulated before it ever reaches us due to the nature of a “filter”. This is important to understand, because our beliefs, our understanding of the world, our interests, and sometimes even our value systems come from information that is manipulated before we even access it.
To put it simply: while we believe we live in a world of fact and fiction, information being true or false, that is not quite the case, as we are not the originators of that information. In other words, if you have not seen, heard, touched, or experienced something in life with your own hands, your own eyes, your own senses….there is no true way of knowing if what you are being told is true. You’re simply putting your trust in one of the many filters we obtain our information from, and hoping you selected the most trustworthy purveyor of that information.
This brings us to our current conundrum.
I believe the world and its people are losing the ability to adequately sift through the sheer amount of information that is becoming available to them. The technology that enables access to this information is advancing exponentially, new data is becoming available at an increasingly rapid pace, and humans seem to be falling dreadfully far behind. We now occupy the territory in which the tenants of the Democracy our Founding Fathers envisioned for us are being tested, or being rendered insufficient altogether.
A healthy democracy is dependent on a well behaved and well informed general public; to behave is to maintain society, and to be informed is to select the people who will not only represent the people, but protect our democracy and protect the freedoms and liberties of all those that are a part of it. Unfortunately, in recent years with the advent of information technology and the Internet, I’m afraid we may have lost both our willingness to behave, and most importantly, our ability to become well informed. It is because of the loss of these primary faculties that we now find ourselves in a strange reality; some type of purgatory, a false reality – one composed of illusions that have turned our world, or understanding of it, into one grand mirage….one in which no one can differentiate between what is true, and what is false.
But how did it get this way? And can it be fixed?
[PART I] – ADVENT OF THE PROPAGANDA MACHINE
As we covered in episode 1 of this series, intergovernmental power groups – or “World Control Groups” – like the Council on Foreign Relations emerged from the ashes of the first world war and have gone on to affect an astonishing amount of change in politics, culture, economy, and society as a whole. However, these power groups were not the only beasts to emerge from the ashes of war; almost poetically, so too would the tools, technologies, and the tactics those groups would need in order to ensure a resistanceless transition into their vision of the future; a Reset followed by the New World Order.
World War I was the first time propaganda had been used not only in the way that it was, but on the scale that it was, too. It was the first war in which mass media and propaganda played the significant role that it did; it kept the people at home informed as to the major developments of the war, and what was occurring on the battlefields. This was also the first time the government took a systematic approach to propaganda. When the war first broke out, the U.S was becoming the leader in the new field of commercial advertising as well as in the art of filmmaking. At the time, these were newly-discovered technologies, and the important role they played in shaping the American mind and altering public opinion should not be understated.
The most important take-away about this new approach to propaganda, however, is that it was the first time the advertising industry was enlisted specifically to target the U.S public domestically in order to alter their opinions on a scale never before seen.
Referring specifically to the propaganda of World War I, Christopher H. Sterling and Eberhard Demm write:
“Propaganda could be used to arouse hatred of the foe, warn of the consequences of defeat, and idealize one’s own war aims in order to mobilize a nation, maintain its morale, and make it fight to the end. It could explain setbacks by blaming scapegoats such as war profiteers, hoarders, defeatists, dissenters, pacifists, left-wing socialists, spies, shirkers, strikers, and sometimes enemy aliens so that the public would not question the war itself or the existing social and political system”
This new propaganda machine began with the creation of the Committee on Public Information, or CPI, by President Woodrow Wilson via Executive Order 2594 on April 13th, 1917. The main figures involved in the CPI were George Creel (chairman), 42nd U.S Secretary of State Robert Lansing, U.S Secretary of War Newton D. Baker, and Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels. The program was responsible for initiating the massive war propaganda program, and exhausted an almost unfathomable amount of resources in order to do so.
The goal was to systematically reach every person in the United States with patriotic information about how the individual could contribute to the war effort; to do this, Creel set up divisions in the CPI charged with producing and distributing pamphlets, newspaper releases, magazine advertisements and articles, films, campaigns in schools, as well as public speeches in order to reach people on the local level. Colorful posters created by the CPI were seen everywhere; they were in almost every store window, and public speakers paid by the CPI were tasked with giving speeches at movie theaters during the 4 minute breaks during the films. Within 18 months, according to Creel, he had 75,000 CPI volunteers who delivered over 7.5 million four minute speeches to over 300 million listeners in a nation that, at that time, had 103 million people. With the CPI, it seemed no corner of the U.S was untouched by this novel war propaganda machine. Michael S. Sweeney in his book “Secrets of Victory: The Office of Censorship and the American Press and Radio in World War II”, features an excerpt by Historians James R. Mock and Cedric Larson where they describe just how extensive the CPI’s propaganda efforts were:
“Every item of war news they saw—in the country weekly, in magazines, or in the city daily picked up occasionally in the general store—was not merely officially approved information but precisely the same kind that millions of their fellow citizens were getting at the same moment. Every war story had been censored somewhere along the line— at the source, in transit, or in the newspaper offices in accordance with ‘voluntary’ rules established by the CPI.”
Walter Lippmann
There are a few names you may recognize on the list of staff members for the CPI, but Walter Lippmann may not be one of them despite the relevance his beliefs hold in the present day.
Lippmann was a journalist, a media critic, as well as an amateur philosopher, and his primary focus in these fields was trying to reconcile the tensions between liberty and democracy in an ever-evolving complex and modern world. During World War I, Lippmann was commissioned a captain in the Army in 1918, and was eventually brought on as President Woodrow Wilson’s personal adviser during the ongoing war efforts. He also played an integral role in the CPI propaganda efforts.
It was his very involvement with the CPI and its propaganda efforts, however, that showed Lippmann for the first time “…how manipulable the public was, how easily people surrender to compelling narratives. We’re told about the world before we see it, we imagine things before we experience them, and we become hostages to these preconceptions.”
This idea was laid out comprehensively in Lippmann’s book “Public Opinion”which, according to John Dewey, the most important American philosopher of the era, was “the most effective indictment of democracy as currently conceived”. It is described by Wikipedia as “a critical assessment of functional democratic government, especially of the irrational and often self-serving social perceptions that influence individual behavior and prevent optimal society cohesion.”
“Public Opinion” became a seminal text in the fields of media studies, political science, and social psychology particularly due to Lippmann’s detailed descriptions of the cognitive limitations people face in comprehending their sociopolitical and cultural environments. In his view, this leads them to apply an evolving catalogue of general stereotypes to a complex reality.
In other words, Lippmann believed that the world was simply becoming too complex, too fast-paced, evolving too quickly, and generally too overwhelming for an average citizen to educate themselves adequately enough on current events in order to make responsible and informed decisions on things of major importance, such as electing a President to govern the people. While most 20th century democractic theorists believed that more information would produce a more informed citizenry, which would therefore maintain the core promises of Democracy, this seems not to be the case as time moves on.
While it appears that it was Lippmann’s ideas that held true rather than the leading democratic theorists of the 20th century, we will soon see how Lippmann’s proposals on how to best solve the current issues facing democracy ironically ended up flying entirely in the face of democracy in the process.
Lippmann believed that important facts were never provided completely and accurately, and by necessity were arranged to portray a certain subjective interpretation of an event due to the inability to fully capture the complexity of a scenario such as World War I. He believed that those who are most knowledgeable on the currently available facts regarding a particular subject end up constructing a “pseudo-environment” around themselves that aligns with their own “stereotypes”, and understood this to be an inescapable aspect of human nature. Because of this, he laid the blame not on mass media technology like print, radio, cinema, or TV, but upon the members of society who display very little intellectual engagement with the world. Personally, I think this was one of his mistakes.
Because of those cynical beliefs on society as a whole, he no longer was confident that general “public opinion” was able to organically arise among the populace. He writes:
“Under the impact of propaganda, not necessarily in the sinister meaning of the word alone, the old constants of our thinking have become variables. It is no longer possible, for example, to believe in the original dogma of democracy; that the knowledge needed for the management of human affairs comes up spontaneously from the human heart.”
Lippmann’s solution to these incredibly complex issues, as I said earlier, flies in the face of the core principles of democracy. He stated that, because the political elite are members of the class of people who are incapable of accurately understanding by themselves the complex “unseen environment” wherein the public affairs of the modern state occur, we must enlist a professional “specialized class” of people to collect data, analyze it, and present their informed conclusions to those who mold and maintain society in order to then relay that information to the general public and, in effect, “maintain” public opinion by “manufacturing” it.
If the idea of a “specialized class” of societal elites being the gatekeepers of information and using their power to mold society into what bests suits their definition of “society” sounds familiar, you aren’t alone. It sounds as if Lippmann’s proposed solution was indeed acted upon, though one has to question how he thought this would ever work in the favor of Democracy.
Thus, the term “Manufactured Consent” was born, providing us with the perfect descriptor to identify the existential crisis we are facing today regarding free speech and censorship.
“It is the emergence of mass media which makes possible the use of propaganda techniques on a societal scale. The orchestration of press, radio and television to create a continuous, lasting and total environment renders the influence of propaganda virtually unnoticed precisely because it creates a constant environment. Mass media provides the essential link between the individual and the demands of the technological society.” – Jacques Ellul
When we walk into a grocery store, we are confronted with a colorful array of innumerable different products, with each individual product having a variety of different brands that manufacture them. The same can be said with just about anything:
This is what I refer to as “The Illusion of Many”; the idea that, despite there appearing to be a near-infinite selection of different products, in reality all of the products you perceive to be entirely separate from one another are, in fact, all created by the same few companies you can probably count on one hand. The mainstream media is no exception, and the clip you just watched is a perfect example of that “illusion”.
While hundreds of thousands of people watch their own local television channels completely under the impression the station is geared toward events specifically relevant to their geographical location, the fact is that each of those seemingly separate stations are actually owned by a single broadcast company. In this case, it’s Sinclair. Now, it isn’t unusual for different media outlets to cover the same story, but to do so in such a way that is parroting the other verbatim is indicative of them sticking to a type of script or a memo handed down “from the top”. This “illusion” becomes comical when one realizes that both right-leaning and left-leaning media outlets can be owned by the same company. Perhaps we should be less concerned with the political leanings of the media outlets we watch, and instead concern ourselves more with the political stance of who owns those outlets.
According to this 2012 article published by Business Insider, almost all of the media we consume on a daily basis comes from the same six sources. To put that in perspective, in 1984 that number would have been 50 different companies producing our entertainment. At the time this infographic was created in 2012, the six major companies that produce the bulk of media we consume are: GE, News-Corp, Disney, Viacom, Time Warner, and CBS. To break it down, that means that only 232 media executives control the information of almost 277 million americans. When it comes to cable television, those six companies control 70% of what you watch. To put it in perspective, the remaining 30% of what you watch is controlled by 3,762 separate businesses. When it comes to radio and the individual stations playlists and selection of music, 80% of those playlists are identical.
The same can be seen in movies: In 2010, the primary six companies had box office sales hit $7 billion, which is two times the amount of money made by the other 140 studios that exist.
Take a second and really let the implications of this information sink in for a moment. Almost every single piece of media we consume on a daily basis across TV, Movies, Radio, and the Internet are coming from the same six companies that have dominated the media landscape for decades. And those are just the six main companies; this isn’t even taking into account other absolutely massive corporations that own large swaths of our perception as well.
One of the things I’ve always found most beautiful about human life on this planet is the vast range of beliefs, cultures, and diversity of opinions and outlooks we can experience if we were to merely look past our own perception of the world, even for just for a moment. But to do that and realize that every store you walk passed in the course of a given day, every flashing billboard you glance at, every person wearing clothing you think looks nice, every phone, every vehicle that drives passed you, every plot of land you step on, every product you think looks neat is all merely the creation of a handful of corporate giants masquerading as unique different entities is incredibly sad to me.
As I mentioned in Episode I, one of the main reasons people doubt the existence of an organized group of powerful world elites influencing the world and changing its trajectory from behind the scenes is the idea that the world is simply too big for that to be possible. When you take this information into account, is the idea really that outlandish? How big is our world really? It does not take entire institutions to be corrupted in order to “fall in line” with the New World Order or Great Reset agenda; it only requires the top 1% of any organization to do so. Knowing what we know now about just how much of our media diet is produced by a very small group of companies, those companies of course being composed of flesh and blood human beings like you or I, one can see just how easy it could be for them to influence and manipulate the minds of the masses in a dramatic way should they choose to do so….or should they be forced to do so.
This information is scary enough by itself when you take in the implications of its potential to be used as a weapon, or a tool for mind control. After all, having a literal handful of companies providing the majority of products the population consumes is in itself a form of control. What’s even more scary, however, is the fact that the media has already been weaponized at least once for exactly that, long before this consolidation happened:
If the CIA has conducted illegal mind control experiments on unwitting American and Canadian citizens that ended up damaging them so severely that some of them forgot their toilet training, is it really that unreasonable than to wonder whether or not they might be interested in exploiting the power the media holds over the hearts and minds of the public? Is it unfair to wonder if the CIA actually perfected the craft of brainwashing, and is deploying it en masse using the media? Or the internet?
Understanding just how linked every single media outlet is behind the scenes is vital to understand in order to fully grasp the bigger picture. At present, the media is falling apart; they’ve been hemorrhaging viewers for a very long time due to the simple fact that most of the people below the age of 50 obtain their news from the Internet nowadays. Although there will of course be small contingents of people in older age brackets that still rely on cable news networks being as they aren’t on the Internet nearly as much as you or I, even then the viewership and ratings of cable news has plummeted across the board.
The mainstream media has betrayed the trust of the citizens consistently for many years, and have a confirmed track record to prove as much. Because of this, we aren’t the only ones celebrating the slow death of what ended up evolving into one giant propaganda machine; even the people who resist the theories and ideas we explore see through their charade and are happy to see legacy media fade into the background, and eventually, obscurity.
There is another group, though, that is far from happy about this development. To them, witnessing the death of the mainstream media is losing their most valuable tool when it comes to mind control and perception management of the masses; they are witnessing the slow death of what was formerly the most powerful tool in their arsenal ever since mass broadcasting first emerged. Because of this most unfortunate development, they’ve been forced to adapt, evolve, and become more tactful in how they go about manipulating the public.
Unfortunately for us, the Internet, social media, smart phones, and technology in general has provided a better opportunity to do this; one that is far more effective than the mainstream media was and ever could be when it comes to controlling the minds of the masses. Where mainstream media only reached the people in their living rooms, the very tools they need to exact the same effect are carried by almost everyone in their pockets everywhere they go.
We have known for a long time because of whistleblowers like Snowden and others that the NSA and other intelligence agencies monitor just about every communication that is transmitted in the United States. Regardless of how insignificant you think you are, or how unthreatening you believe yourself to be, the fact remains that we now know that your communications are being collected by default. And it’s being collected by a number of different groups, whether it be intelligence agencies like the NSA, or corporations that pawn your data off to other corporations for millions of dollars to better target your demographic with advertisements.
Think for a moment about what could be learned about you if someone took the time to closely examine all the data you have willingly provided to these groups: take every single text you’ve ever sent, every email, ever picture in your camera roll and in the cloud, every video, every direct message or post on social media, every location you’ve visited while GPS location services were activated on your smartphone, every website you’ve visited, every search terms you’ve plugged into Google, every app you’ve downloaded or purchase you’ve made with Apple Pay or personal credit card, every conversation you’ve ever had in the vicinity of your iPhone or Alexa or Google Home, and envision the vast implications of someone taking the time to combine all of that data into a single working portfolio of your life.
I would be willing to bet that it would say a lot about your character, right? After all, you’ve probably typed extremely sensitive and personal inquiries into Google or other search browsers that you may not have otherwise ever shared to even your closest friends or family. Google knows, though.
Now envision the implications of pooling all of that data on a society-wide scale; combining all the data of every single individual that uses these services.
This is the territory we as a society have unfortunately stepped into. We are far past the days where passive data collection by the NSA, CIA, and technology companies are our primary concern; we now have to come to terms with the fact that, through this technology, the Powers that Be now have the ability to change our behavior itself.
The story of The Reset began with World War I and the creation of the two mighty powers we find ourselves in conflict with today: the World Control Groups like the Council on Foreign Relations, and the weapons they’d wield to ensure their victory, like Propaganda.
Propaganda in its current form would not exist without people like Walter Lippmann or organizations like the Committee on Public Information, and it most certainly would not exist if it weren’t for people like Edward Bernays, who is referred to as the “father of public relations”.
Lippmann referred to the average people of society as a “Bewildered Herd” unable to understand the world around them and incapable of making informed decisions. Because of this, he believed that the masses occupied what he called the “Pseudo-Environment”, a fictional version of reality built upon half truths and stereotypes stemming from the masses apparent inability to understand the world around them. He advocated for the creation of a small group of Elites to be the information gatekeepers of the world, molding society into what they believe to be best for our Democracy.
Like Lippmann, Bernays described the masses as “irrational and subject to herd instinct”, and outlined how skilled practitioners could use crowd psychology and psychoanalysis to control them in desirable ways.
I believe that our current state of affairs, the inability to tell fact from fiction or trust any news source completely, is a direct result of the discoveries made by Lippmann and Bernays after World War I. I believe Lippmann was correct in thinking that society lived in a sort of “pseudo-environment”, and I think we are all living in those environments to this very day. False realities. However, I do not believe this was an accident; between Lippmann’s analysis of the complex world and the increasing difficulty in understanding it, and Bernays’ newfound ability to control society through crowd psychology, I believe that the the Powers that Be have discovered a way to construct a pseudo-environment for each and every single one of us – one that is not a byproduct of a complex world as Lippmann believed, but one created by people like Bernays, the Council on Foreign Relations, and other groups exactly like it.
It should not come as a surprise, then, to discover that Walter Lippmann was a member of President Woodrow Wilson’s The Inquiry – the group that would inevitably turn into the Council on Foreign Relations we know of today. It should also not be surprising that Marc Randolph, the co-founder and first CEO of Netflix, comes from a very well known family in the field of public relations – the Bernays family.
We are up against forces that rely on trickery and illusion in order to survive. They cast spells on the mind of the masses in order to convince the people that what is wrong is actually right, and that their vision of the future is what is best for all. In order to defeat the forces working against us, we need not take up arms against them – but rather destroy the mechanisms that have put us in this hypnotic state to begin with.

“In his Encyclopaedia of the Social Sciences, Lasswell explained that when elites lack the requisite force to compel obedience, social managers must turn to “a whole new technique of control, largely through propaganda.” He added the conventional justification: we must recognize the “ignorance and stupidity [of] … the masses and not succumb to democratic dogmatisms about men being the best judges of their own interests.”
Lasswell extensively studied the field of content analysis in order to understand the effectiveness of different types of propaganda. In his essay Contents of Communication, Lasswell explained that, in order to understand the meaning of a message (i.e. a movie, a speech, a book, etc.), one should take into account the frequency with which certain symbols appear in the message, the direction in which the symbols try to persuade the audience’s opinion, and the intensity of the symbols used.”
